Enter the Tugas

Está a tornar-se cada vez mais oficial. Os membros do Estúdio da Bica já são notícia na Net. Ok, por enquanto ainda é pouco, mas é um começo.

Se bem se lembram, há quase um ano atrás, mais propriamente em 24 de Outubro de 2005, eu fiz um post no Blog sobre o anúncio de um projecto de BD a cargo do meu colega de estúdio e amigo João Lemos e o ex-editor da Marvel CB Cebulski. O projecto, Shiki, tem progredido ao seu ritmo durante este ano e tem suscitado alguma atenção por parte da imprensa especializada ("googlem" João Lemos Shiki e podem vêr exemplos disso).

Mas o que me leva a fazer este post é a notícia de outros projectos de Cebulski com os outros dois membros do grupo (Nuno "Plati" Alves e Ricardo Tércio).
De há uns tempos para cá, a relação entre CB Cebulski e o Estúdio estendeu-se aos quatro membros e neste momento, além da Shiki, outras três histórias estão a sêr trabalhadas aqui com o intuito de publicar nos EUA.

E onde estou eu no meio disto tudo, perguntam vocês? Compromissos anteriores obrigaram-me a atrasar a minha participação, mas sobre isso falo no futuro, porque o atraso valeu a pena.

Assim que puder, eu faço uma actualização destes projectos e da história que me compete. A única coisa que posso dizer é que vai sêr algo literalmente fora deste Mundo. E mais não digo.


It's getting pretty oficial. The members of the Bica Studio are making the news on the Net. Okay, for the moment, it's still a small thing, but it's a start.

If you recall, nearly a year ago, on October 24th 2005 to be exact, I posted in the Blog the announcement of a Comics project from my studiomate and friend João Lemos and ex-Marvel editor CB Cebulski. The project has progressed at its own rythm for this last year and it's turning some heads in the industry's media (just "google" João Lemos Shiki and you'll see some examples).

But what made me put up this post is the news of other projects from Cebulski and the two other members of the group (Nuno "Plati" Alves and Ricardo Tércio).
For a while now, the relationship between CB Cebulski and the Studio has spread to all four members and right now, besides Shiki, three other stories are being worked on here and they're due to be published in the States.

And where am I in the middle of all this, I hear you ask? Previous engagements forced me to delay my participation a bit, but that's a matter which will be addressed in the future, because the delay was worth it, business wise.

As soon as possible, I'll update you on the projects and my story. All I can say is that it's going to be something literally out of this world.

Hip Hop Revolution

Há uns meses atrás, recebi um convite de um contacto no Myspace para criar uma ilustração para um poster de promoção a um documentário sobre movimentos de hip hop alternativos ao "bling bling" que polui MTVs e canais afins.

A ideia de contribuir para um projecto com uma consciência social e ajudar a revelar realidades e perspectivas que muita gente não conhece apelou imediatamente ao meu lado de espalha-brasas revolucionário, lado que tem andado meio adormecido ultimamente, e este trabalho deu-me um gozo imenso.

A couple of months ago, I was asked by a contact of mine on Myspace to create an illustration for a promotional poster of a documentary about hip hop movements alternative to the "bling bling" which is polluting the MTVs of this world.

The idea of contributing to a project with a social awareness and helping to reveal realities and perspectives that a lot of people know anything about immediately appealed to my revolutionary firestarter side, a side which has been a little dormant lately, so I got a special kick out of this job.

Abençoado Pelos Deuses | Blessed By The Gods

Finalmente, posso mostrar um trabalho que fiz há uns meses, trabalho que me deu um gozo especial, primeiro porque foi feito para um casamento de dois amigos, e depois porque desde miúdo que o tema da Mitologia Grega me interessou.
Neste trabalho, foi-me pedido que desenhasse representações dos Deuses Gregos, 16 ao todo para colocar como decoração de cada uma das mesas dos convidados do copo de água.
Eu tenho aguentado os últimos meses sem colocar as imagens aqui até que o casamento acontecesse, casamento que foi realizado no último Sábado (por isso, Parabéns, Ana e Ricardo, e Felicidades para o Futuro).
Agora que a cerimónia já se realizou, decidi colocá-las aqui.

Finally, I can post a work I did some months ago, which I specially liked, first off because this was done for a wedding of two friends, and secondly because Greek Mithology was always a subject that interested me, ever since my childhood.
In this thing, I was asked to draw representations of the Greek Gods, 16 total, to place as decoration over each of the tables on the wedding reception.
I've been holding back the pictures from this Blog for the past months, waiting for the wedding to take place, which happened last Saturday (so, Congratulations, Ana and Ricardo, and much Happiness for the Future).
Now that the ceremony has taken place, I've decided to post them here.

Ainda Respira... | It's Still Breathing...

Eu sei que este Blog parece morto, mas estamos apenas a descansar e a preparar coisas para o futuro.
Assim que fôr possível, haverá uma actualização bem merecida.

I recently got onboard the Myspace.com craze, lured by the possibility of connecting with another online community. I'm still not sure how I'm going to fill that space, but a couple of ideas have sprung up in the last few days.

Bem, assim vai o trabalho de pré-produção desta amostra de BD. Ainda não tenho a certeza em relação a certos efeitos e opções, mas o aspecto final não andará longe disto.

Velhas Glórias | Old Glories

Desde que fiz o esboço do Caveira Vermelha que tenho entretido a ideia de fazer alguma coisa com as antigas personagens da Segunda Guerra Mundial publicados pela Marvel Comics(ou Timely Comics, na altura), os Invasores.
Há alguns dias que ando em pesquisas de Guerra e de BDs antigas(o que me tem dado um gozo incrível, para sêr sincero) e posso dizer que vai haver uma curta dos Invasores aqui no Blog brevemente.

Since I sketched the Red Skull, I've been entretaining the idea of doing something with the old World War Two published by Marvel Comics(or Timely Comics, back then), the Invaders.
For some days now, I've been researching in War and old Comics(and having a blast in the process, to be honest) so I can say there will be a short sequence starring the Invaders here on the Blog very soon.

OMAC vive para que o Homem viva... | OMAC lives so Man may live...

Comecei a tentar recuperar um estilo de desenho e um ritmo que tinha há alguns anos, uma coisa que se está a revelar um trabalho um bocado complicado.
Sinto-me como se estivesse a acordar de uma longa hibernação, em termos estilísticos.
Vamos vêr o que reservam as próximas tentativas.

I've started getting back to an old drawing style and a rhythm I had a couple of years ago, which is turning out to be a slightly complicated assignment.
I feel like I'm waking up from a long hyberntion, styllistically speaking.
We'll see what the next attempts will show.
