Hoje descobri uma notícia sobre os Fairy Tales em que os meus colegas, Ricardo Tércio e João Lemos, estão a trabalhar para a Marvel e é sempre bom verificar a exactidão que reina na Net em relação a pormenores tão pouco importantes quanto nacionalidades, por exemplo.

O site é Italiano, chama-se ComicUS.it e trata de notícias do quotidiano da BD. Esta é a notícia...

Ok, como Português que sou, eu estou mentalizado que muita gente não sabe onde fica um país geograficamente tão pequeno quanto Portugal, e que um Português é muitas vezes confundido com um cidadão Brasileiro, Espanhol, Sul ou Centro-americano, Grego, ou o que quer que a ignorância alheia imagine.
O que me irrita um pouco neste episódio é que este é um site de informação (informação com "I" ou "i", deixo a vocês a escolha), um site em que se dão ao trabalho de colocar um link para o Blog de um ilustrador e nem se dão ao trabalho de verificar a proveniência da pessoa em causa.

Tentem, e digam-me quanto tempo levam a descobrir.
Fim da reclamação patriótica.

Ok, being Portuguese, I know in my mind that a lot of people don't have a clue where a country so geographically small like Portugal is on a map, and that someone Portuguese is many times mistaken for Brazilian, Spanish, South or Central-American, Greek or whatever nationality common ignorance can think of.
What annoyed me a bit about this episode is that this is an information site (information with an "I" or a "i", you decide), a site where someone went to the pains of setting up a link for an illustrator's Blog and didn't bother to check the origin of said person.

Try to find it, and tell me how long it took.
End of patriotic rant.

Bem-vindos a 2007 | Welcome to 2007

Cá estamos no Novo Ano. Para começar já a rebentar em 2007, ponho aqui uma actualização de No Quarter. Espero que o CB não se chateie por colocar aqui a prenda de Natal dele.


Here we are, it's a New Year. Starting 2007 with a bang, I'm posting here an update for No Quarter. I hope CB doesn't mind me posting his Christmas present.

Fim do Ano | End of the Year

Este será o último post de 2006. Apesar da promessa, a versão colorida do último esboço não está pronta. Há-de aparecer nos primeiros dias do próximo ano.
Queria aproveitar para informar que as minhas páginas vão sofrer algumas alterações, umas já decididas, outras ainda à espera de um lampejo de criatividade da minha parte.

Este Blog, :::2depaus.blogspot.com:::, vai passar a sêr um pouco mais pessoal, mais dedicado a pensamentos diários, esboços, fotos, curiosidades e o que mais me apetecer colocar aqui. Em suma, mais blog do que tem sido nos últimos tempos, e, em princípio, mais rico nas suas actualizações.

O Blog :::rvportfolio.blogspot.com::: vai ser o lado mais profissional desta remodelação, tornando-se na apresentação mais actualizada do meu trabalho. As galerias estiveram algo negligenciadas nos últimos tempos e eu estou a trabalhar para dar-lhes um novo fôlego. E que melhor desculpa para renovar do que o começo de um novo ano, não é?

Falando de 2007, este promete ser bastante desafiador em vários aspectos, e em particular no que toca a trabalho.

Nesta última semana, como é natural e quase inevitável, avaliei o ano que passou e conclui que algo se perdeu a meio da viagem. Apesar de 2006 ter sido um bom ano, com boas oportunidades de trabalho e uma boa dose de aprendizagem à mistura, sinto-me velho e gasto como o velho Ano que chega ao fim. A falta de férias e alguns problemas de comunicação tiveram o seu peso nos últimos tempos. Compromisso foi a palavra de ordem em 2006.

2007 vai ser (ou terá que ser) o ano de solidificar certos aspectos do meu trabalho e mostrá-lo como nunca o mostrei. Pensando bem, 2007 terá que ser o ano de solidificar muita coisa na minha vida. Mas isso já são outras conversas...

Resta-me desejar-vos uma excelente entrada em no Novo Ano e que as resoluções que fizerem na última noite de 2006 se cumpram até ao fim de 2007. Festejem muito, mas com juízo, e vêmo-nos em Janeiro.



This will be the last post of 2006. Despite the promise, the colored version of the last sketch isn't done. It will come up on the first days of next year.
I wanted to take the opportunity to let you know that my pages are going to suffer some alterations, some already decided, others still waiting for a flash of creativity of my part.

This Blog, :::2depaus.blogspot.com:::, will become a bit more personal, more dedicated to daily thoughts, sketches, photos, quirky stuff and whatever else I'm in the mood to post here. In short, a bit more of a blog than it has been in the last months, and, I hope, richer in its updates.

The Blog :::rvportfolio.blogspot.com::: will be the professional side of this overhaul, becoming the more up-to-date presentation of my work. The galleries are being neglected for quite sometime now and I'm trying to give them some much needed freshness. And what better excuse to renovate than the start of a new year, right?

Speaking of 2007, it promises to be a year full of challenges in many ways, and particularly in terms of work.

This past week, naturally and almost inevitably, I evaluated this passing year and concluded that something got lost midway through. Although 2006 was a good year, with some great job opportunities and a good dose of learning thrown into the mix, I feel as old and spent as the old Year that's reaching its end. No vacations and some communication breakdowns had its toll in the recent past. Compromise was the word in 2006.

2007 will be (or it will have to be) the year to solidify certain aspects of my work and and show it off like I've never shown it before. Come to think of it, this is the year to solidify a lot of things in my life. But that's another story...

Nothing more from me but my wish of an excellent start for the New Year and that the resolutions made on the last night of 2006 are fulfilled until the end of 2007. Party hard, but safely, and I'll see you in January.

Novidades de Fim de Ano | End of the Year News

Fim do ano e o trabalho acumula. Porém, e como é impossível, para já, revelar o que estou a fazer, aqui ficam três novidades.

Primeiro, além de No Quarter, tenho um outro trabalho de dimensões consideráveis para sair no próximo ano, por isso, estejam atentos a este blog no princípio do ano, para saber mais.

Segundo, o link para uma página de fotografias minhas. Ultimamente, tenho levado a minha câmara para todo o lado e o passatempo está a tornar-se meio viciante, por isso, decidi juntar algumas das fotos numa espécie de diário fotográfico.

Terceiro, um dos meus autores preferidos finalmente deu sinal de vida na Net. Paul Pope, no espaço de um mês ou pouco mais que isso, criou um blog, uma página no Myspace, e uma página no Flickr.
Se não conhecem, deviam. Um dos melhores e mais puros autores de BD que conheço.

End of the year and the work is piling up. However, since it's impossible, at the moment, for me to show what I'm doing, I'm sharing three news.

First, besides No Quarter, I'm having another considerably big job coming out next year, so stay tuned on thisblog for more news.

Second, the link to my new photo page. I've been carrying my camera everywhere I go, and this hobby is getting pretty addicting, so I decided to gather some of the photos on a photo diary of sorts.

Third, one of my favorite authors has finally shown some activity on the Web. Paul Pope, in a matter of a month or so, has created a blog, a page on Myspace, and a page on Flickr.
If you don't know his work, you should. One of the best and purest Comicbook authors I know.

The Nocturnals

Uma Nova Cara | A New Face

Como podem vêr, o visual deste Blog mudou ligeiramente. Isto deve-se ao facto de eu têr feito o upgrade para o Blogger Beta, que me traz novas possibilidades de apresentar e organizar o Blog 2dePaus.
Ainda não acabei de fazer ajustes, mas a seu tempo, as coisas ficarão a meu gosto.

Também estou a pensar em reorganizar o meu Portfolio Online, por isso, fiquem atentos às mudanças.


As you can see, the look of this Blog has changed slightly. This is due to the fact that I upgraded for Blogger Beta, which brings me new possibilities for presenting and organizing the 2ofClubs Blog.

I'm also thinking about reorganizing my Online Portfolio, so, stay alert for more changes.

Aí está, já posso colocar aqui a imagem de apresentação da minha parceria com o escritor CB Cebulski.
Se leram o post Enter the Tugas, sabem que eu fiquei de me juntar ao grupo de projectos de BD em curso entre os meus colegas do Estúdio da Bica e o CB Cebulski.

Como o CB colocou esta imagem no Fórum da Image, eu oficializo aqui também este projecto.
Neste momento, a única coisa que quero adiantar sobre a história, é que vai sêr uma história de Ficção Científica, com muita acção, muitas emoções, e será passada na Lua.

Espero nas próximas semanas têr mais coisas para mostrar aqui.

There it is, now I can post here the presentation image for my partnership with the writer CB Cebulski.
If you've read the post Enter the Tugas, you know I meant to join the ranks of the group of comicbook projects in production between my colleagues of the Bica Studio and CB Cebulski.

Since CB has posted this image on the Image Forum, I also make this project official here in my blog.
At the moment, all I want to say about the project, is that it will be a Sci-Fi story, with a lot of action, a lot of heart, and it will be set on the Moon.

I hope to have something more to show in the next few weeks.
