IV Festival de BD de Beja | 4th Comics Festival of Beja
Este fim-de-semana, o pessoal do estúdio vai andar pelas ruas de Beja, pela ocasião do IV Festival Internacional de BD.
O plano é ver bons trabalhos, duas exposições de membros do estúdio (João Lemos e Pepe D'elRey), uma festa El Pep/Ballroom Beasts na noite do dia 10, muito álcool, boa comida, alguma conversa de BD à mistura, apanhar um pouco de sol, divertir-me com amigos no Alentejo, e preparar-me para os trabalhos que vêm aí.

This weekend, the studio gang will hang out on the streets of Beja, to attend the 4th International Comics Festival.
The plan is to see good works, two exhibits from our studio members (João Lemos and Pepe D'elRey), an El Pep/Ballroom Beasts party on the 10th, a lot of alcohol, good food and some shop talk thrown into the mix, catch a little sun, have fun with my friends in Alentejo, and get ready for the jobs that are coming my way.

De volta de NYC | Back from NYC
Aqui está finalmente o post pós-NY ComicCon. Um post #0, porque para já não tenho muito tempo para fazer um relato completo da viagem e da convenção.
Espero ir desvendando mais coisas ao longo das próximas semanas, mas por enquanto, fica aqui uma lembrança.
Entre as pessoas que conhecemos na convenção, destaco Damian e Denzil, dois irmãos que foram o máximo quando estiveram na nossa mesa, ao ponto de pedirem uma foto com os dois Ricardos.
Infelizmente, Denzil não conseguiu aparecer na altura da foto, porque estávamos no inferno do fim da convenção (como podem ver pela minha cara de cansaço), mas aqui fica um abraço aos dois pelo apoio e os elogios.

From all the people we met at the con, two of the coolest were Damian and Denzil, two brothers who were the nicest guys when they dropped by our table, to the point of requesting a picture with the two Ricardos.
Unfortunately, Denzil didn't make it to the photo, since this was taken at the Pandemonium that was the end of the con (as you can see by my tired expression), but I wish all the best to the two of them for their support and compliments.

Pre - NY Comic Con pt2
Bom, aqui está o trabalho das últimas semanas.
Conforme disse no post anterior, estive a trabalhar num conjunto de ilustrações para levar à Comic Con de Nova Iorque deste ano e o resultado está abaixo.
Se estiverem em NYC na altura da convenção, passem pela mesa F-10 do Artist Alley e encontrar-me-ão por lá a vender prints e esboços feitos na altura, ao lado do pessoal do estúdio.
Espero que gostem. :)
Vou tentar actualizar o blog antes da partida, mas se não conseguir, falamos depois da semana em NY.
Well, here's the work of the last few weeks.
As I said on the last post, I've been working on a set of illustrations to take to this year's New York Comic Con and this is the finished product.
If you're in NYC by the time of the convention, drop by table F-10 aof the Artist Alley and you'll catch me there selling these prints and sketches done on the spot, next to my studiomates.
I hope you like them. :)

Pre - NY Comic Con pt1
Amostra das ilustrações que vou ter à venda na Comic Con de Nova Iorque.
Recebemos a notícia de que vamos ter duas mesas disponíveis na convenção para vender coisas nossas, mostrar trabalho e conhecer outros autores, ainda por cima logo na zona da Marvel Comics, o que vai ser bastante interessante.
À medida que for acabando as cores das ilustrações, eu mostro-as aqui.
E só faltam umas semanas...

We've recieved the news that we'll have a couple of tables at the convention to sell our stuff, show our work and meet other authors, and at the Marvel Comics area of all places, so it should be very interesting.
As soon as I finish the colors for the prints, I'll show them here.
And it's just a few weeks away...

Guitshu
A nova personagem dos Blasted Mechanism foi revelada há uns dias com uma imagem desenhada por mim (e umas alterações de última hora feitas pelo Frederico Ferreira, escultor dos fatos), por isso, acho que já posso falar sobre isto.
A mudança na banda foi uma notícia que me caiu no colo no início de Janeiro e foi preciso manter segredo e trabalhar depressa para chegar a um novo design sólido e condizente com o resto do grupo de fatos, criados há quase 2 anos atrás.
Voltar a processos do passado nunca foi uma coisa que me agradasse muito, mas a ocasião assim o exigiu, e acho que até me safei bem.
Assim, aqui está Guitshu, o novo vocalista, num esboço feito no dia após o primeiro ensaio do Pedro Lousada com a banda, e que definiu o visual final do novo fato (salvo algumas alterações logísticas na construção).
Espero que curtam.
The new Blasted Mechanism character was revealed a few days ago with an image drawn by me (and a few last-minute alterations by Frederido Ferreira, the costumes sculptor), so I think I can talk about it now.
The change in the band fell on my lap at the start of January and it was necessary to keep it secret and work quickly to get to a solid design and a match to the rest of the costumes, designed almost 2 years ago.
Going back to old processeswas never a thing of my liking, but the situation demanded it, and I think I managed to hold my own in the end.
So, here's Guitshu, the new vocalist, in a sketch done the next day after the first rehearsal Pedro Lousada had with the band, and which defined the final look of the new costume (except some logistical changes in the construction stage).
I hope you dig it.

Mais criaturas | More creatures
O trabalho continua apertado, há muita coisa a acontecer, inclusivé a preparação de material para levar a Nova Iorque para a Ny ComicCon a ser realizada entre 18 e 20 de Abril.
Algum desse material será mostrado aqui nas semanas que antecedem a partida para o outro lado do oceano.
Entretanto, fiz mais uns monstros para Ballroom Beasts, mais especificamente, para uma festa que aconteceu este fim-de-semana relacionada com o fecho do Fantasporto.
Aqui vão as monstrengas e o cartaz do Ricardo Tércio para a festa, que ficou excelente, na minha opinião.
Work schedule has been tight, there's a lot happening, including prepping material to take to New York for the NY ComicCon, happening between the 18th and 20th of April.
Some of that material will make its way here in the weeks prior to the departure to the other side of the ocean.
Meanwhile, I've done more monsters for Ballroom Beasts, more specifically, for the party being held this weekend for the closing of Fantasporto.
Here are the beasts and the poster Ricardo Tércio made for the party, which turned out awesome, in my opinion.
