When I started the exercise of illustrating lyrics of songs, I said I didn't know how regular an event it would become. My idea was to come up with a new lyric every monday. Due to my sloth and lack of inspiration (mea culpa), I failed to post new ones on the last two weeks.
The lyrics are back this week. Today, obviously, is the 25th of April, also marked in Portuguese calendars as the Day of Liberty, in celebration of the Revolution of the Carnations (go look it up), where Portugal freed itself from a longstanding dictatorship. Trying to avoid the standard revolutionary songs that resonate here on this date (against which I have nothing to point, by the way...), I've decided to inspire myself on a song that has been played a lot on my computer in the last few days... the music has nothing to do directly with the date in question, but more with the spirit of liberation and the breaking of barriers...

i want to hold air in my hand
own the one thing you can't buy
nothing to win nothing to lose
it's time to be what i need to be
i'm gonna run from everything
everything that holds me down
nothing to win nothing to lose
it's time to be what i need to be
you can't tell me what to do anymore
you can't tell me what to do anymore
now i'm free
now i'm free
now i'm free
